Ruth comes from an agricultural background. She has lived most of her life on a beef and sheep farm in the Southern Midlands (although currently lives in Hobart) and has an Agricultural Science Degree from UTas. She has worked with Greening Australia, Landcare and Local Government and has spent time as an Agricultural Consultant advising on farm business management, land capability and suitability, and succession planning. Most recently she has been working with ABARES surveying farmers across Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales.
She is a practical, hands-on person who is passionate about holistic land and people management, developing her veggie garden and getting back onto the land. She is relatively new to Permaculture and is intending to complete a PDC early in 2019. She is looking forward to implementing Permaculture techniques into both her farming and gardening as well other aspects of her life.
